ALBERTO MACCHINI
Timpanist Alberto Macchini was born in Padova where received his early musical training. After graduating in percussions at Ferrara Conservatory of Music and in Philosophy at Padova University, he earned post-graduate master classes with David Searcy (Teatro alla Scala), Gert Mortensen (Denmark Royal Orchestra), Mike Quinn and Ruud Wiener. In 1989 he was awarded the Foggia national Percussions Competition.
Mr. Macchini has been performed with major italian symphonic foundations as Teatro alla Scala, Arena di Verona, Teatro Comunale di Bologna under Sinopoli, Chailly, Maag, among others. He has also been featured with renowned international baroque orchestras (Mala Punica, Il Giardino Armonico, Concerto Italiano) recording for RAI italian broadcast and other international networks.
He earned master classes in antique repertoire with R. Clemencic, P. Memelsdorff and L. Alpert. As recording artist he has recorded for Erato, Teldec and Arts labels.
Currently he is faculty member at Adria Conservatory of Music.
Mr. Macchini is a founding member of the "Nuovo Gruppo Italiano di Percussioni" ensemble.
