MARIO FOLENA
Flautist Mario Folena has been a member of Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto since 1982. After gratuating "cum laude" at Padova Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Clementine Hoogendoorn, he continued his postgraduate sudies in France with J. P. Rampal and A. Adorjan. In 1978 he began his soloist career under the conduction of J. E. Gardiner. In 1980 he joined Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo as Principal Flute. In 1981 Mr. Folena was awarded the "Venezianello" prize for music.
He has appeared in "Omaggio a Venezia" concerts series in 1982 with J. Sutherland and in 1985, Maestro Szeryng conducting.
He has been a former member at Venice's "Fondazione Cini" baroque music postgraduate master classes. In historical field, Mr. Folena has a particular interest on baroque repertoire (with Roberto Loreggian and Paola Frezzato he has recorded Geminiani's sonatas and arias).
